Fragmenta, Lover’s Arm, 2003 (51”x 22”) Limited Edition of 5
Emmanuel Gimeno, born in France in 1968, is a visual artist whose work moves freely between photography, painting, text, and installation. A graduate with distinction from the École des Beaux-Arts, he first intended to focus on painting and drawing, but discovered in photography a way to unite technical mastery with personal expression. For over thirty years, he has pursued a path that is both international and deeply individual, spending much of his life between Paris and New York. He also made his mark in creative direction and fashion photography, with work appearing in publications such as Harper’s Bazaar, Spoon Magazine and many others.
His artistic style is rooted in fragmentation, layered images, reconstructed negatives, handwritten words, and raw textures, shaped by lived experience. Often drawn to themes of love, loss, and memory, his practice is intimate without being sentimental, and experimental without losing its human core. In recent years, Gimeno has devoted himself entirely to his art that keep on carrying the narrative of personal history while inviting viewers into their own reflections. His journey is one of constant reinvention, guided by curiosity, honesty, and a refusal to compromise. He now lives in the South of France. ©2025
